Okay, so me and my husband's Chapter 7 was discharged in June. I had a credit score of 580 and his was 606 right out of bankruptcy. The same month of discharge we were both approved for unsecured Capital One credit cards, he got a credit limit of $500 and I got a limit of $300. In August, I was approved for a Kohls store card (they sucked me in when I was checking out with the whole %30 off for applying), I didn't expect to be approved but I was pleasantly surprised. So I had my husband apply thinking surely he'd be approved since his credit score is after all better than mine and NOPE! Okay, so fast forward to yesterday, my TU score was 606 and hubby's was 669 according to CreditTracker (free with Capital One cards). Hubby was making some online purchases and when checking out with PayPal and decided on a whim to apply for PayPal credit - he was denied. So then I tried PayPal credit and was approved for $500. Today I got an alert from credit tracker saying that my score is now 660 (yay!) and hubby's is still 669. So my credit score is improving but his is staying steadily the same, I believe this is because my credit accounts are helping mine increase but aside from Capitol One he can't seem to get any approvals... I don't understand why I'm getting approved and he isn't if his credit score is "better?"
Remember that the Cap1 score is powered by Credit Karma and is a FAKO. Works great to monitor your credit but not the best tool to monitor your score.
