So,
If my medical debt was assigned to a creditor and now that I am discharged do they have to delete the records? Because the accounts essentially don't exist anymore.
I'm new here too, but I don't think they have to delete the records, they just have to change the balance to $0 and say IIB (included in bankruptcy). However, since it is medical debt, you may be able to have the record deleted entirely by asserting your rights under HIPAA. Search for HIPAA process on myfico or google it. I plan to use HIPAA after my discharge in February.

You peaked my interest on this.. I have some collections and charge offs for medical bills that I iibk, they are vali though. Should I be using this HIPPA method to get them deleted or just leave them be now that they show iibk?
If this info requires a PM because of legal issues I would greatly appreciate some insight
I am looking for help with this situation also.

I will be dropping my letter off to be mailed tomorrow. I am going to try TU because I read that they are the easiest. Will keep you updated!
Well I sent the HIPAA letter to TU and just yesterday I got a letter back stating they have deleted the 5 medical charge off accounts that were reporting as iibk. These accounts arent showing on EQ and I heard EX is hard to deal with so I didnt try. I have also read that TU is the easiest.

I got all mine deleted from TU no problem with a online dispute. EX is the coprate.
Yay! I'm glad it worked for you. I still don't understand it, so you only had to do the first step?
Yes! Opted out and sent letter on green paper with purple italic ink.
