Discharged today! Questions on what to apply for

I applied for Capital 1 Platinum and Quicksivler after showing as pre-qualified and was approved for both, initial cl of 2000 on each.

From what I understand you should have 3 cards so I'm not sure what to do.  I have an Amex card that has survived so far, but I haven't used it in a really long time and have no balance on it.  I'm positive the minute I would use it they would do a soft pull and close so I'm not sure that I want to count on that for my 3rd card.

Should I suck it up and do credit one for a year?  I also saw something about the L Card on creditkarma and that has a lower annual fee but no prequalify site.

At this point you are passed the credit one stage.  You have excellent starting limits with capital one.

Thank you for the wealth of knowledge I have learned from these forums. I am logging off as of November 9, 2022. I wish everyone great success.

Great job on getting some nice cards right away! It is true that you need 3 cards to optimize your FICO score. Nothing says you have to get all 3 cards at the same time though. Maybe let the Cap1's age for 6-7 months and pick up a Barclay card Smiley Happy GL

Re: Discharged today! Questions on what to apply for

You will probably get a Merrick "double your credit line" preapproval in the mail.

It worked out well for me.  Started at 900 went to 1800 7 months later.

No fees, no issues.

Rebuild started in 2014  -  $100k unsecured credit in 2017  -  $500k unsecured credit in 2024.

DON'T WORK FOR CREDIT CARDS ... MAKE CREDIT CARDS WORK FOR YOU!

Great job on new cards! Wow, I had to wait five years since I had a Chapter 13. You are way ahead of the game.
