Okay so i filed Ch 7 today. My question is....How long does it take after filing do your creditors get notice? I filed personally after work today....so around 3:00 pm. How long will it be until the notices are mailed out to creditors?
Thanks In Advance
Cheryl
One thing to remember is that just because you have filed with your attorney, it doesn't mean that the attorney has filed it in court. It could be tomorrow morning before that happens. After that they will go out rather quickly. Any calls you get from this point on, refer to your attorney. You no longer have to talk to them. If they continue to harass you, they are in violation. Now that you've filed, it's time to breathe. Good luck!

When you filed your paalication papers [looks like you are not using your attorney], a trustee will review your papers and get back to you in writing ... with a decision on approval to coninue or not. How long that takes is variable depending on several factors ... a month maybe?
I filed my chapter 7 pro se on a Friday. It took a week for most of my creditors to be notified. I had been going back and forth with two creditors even after I filed. Then sometime during the following week they stopped contacting me. It took one creditor in VA about 2 weeks to receive notice. They kept calling and emaiing me and I told them I filed. They kept saying they didn't have any record of that and then the account specialist replied to an email that they received notice.
Good luck!
The "how to file" book that I read said it was okay to let the creditor know because it will take some time for them to be notified by the court. I sent an email to a installment loan provider with my bk case number and the phone number for the court after I filed and that stopped them dead in their tracks. Then there was the small issue I had with the other two. I say let them know you filed and then let them sort it out with either your attorney if you used one or the bk trustee assigned to your case.
Good luck!
