Good to know about being able to get Chex to remove an overdrawn record by sending them a copy of your BK discharge discharging that OD.

And EWS (early warning services). You can send them both a fax plus your discharge letter. Chexsystems is very fast about updating your record. I would also send a letter to Telecheck as well.

I am planning my next steps to do after discharge. I know they dont recommend secured cards, but what about secure cards that graduate like the Discover or BOA? Are those safe to get or will they not allow you to progress as normal following the recommended steps?

I highly recommend the BoA secured card. It's a $39 annual fee and when approved it tells you it is eligible for unsecuring at 1 year. I got mine May 2015, called and got unsecured at 8 months, and earlier this year got an auto CLI from the original $300 secured limit to $1800. So then I called and got it upgraded to a Cash Rewards Visa w/3% rewards on gas, 2% of gas and 1% on everything else. The only credit hard pull was the original secured app. I've also heard good things about Discover secured card, but I think 1 secured card is enough to get you going.
