No need to. I saw it. My Father was in the Navy and i'll ask him to see if he can sponser me.  Does he need to be a member of NFCU or not?

He has to be a member of NFCU in order for you to join. You can check the website for membership eligibility.....

Re: How to join NCFU and rebuild as a civilian the right way

Just want to say I received my welcome email from NFCU this morning! Like I said before, I emailed my docs over on July 8th. Very excited! I will mail my deposit first thing tomorrow morning for the savings account.
Will NFCU send a welcome packet in the mail? Will they send a debit card, etc? Thanks for all the help on these forums!

Wait, I don't think Dad has to be a member to extend eligibility. As long as Dad is eligible to join, you should be able to join. Make sure Dad is eligible and find out what info you need to provide to NFCU

Well he is a Navy Veteran, did 3 tours in Vietnam so I think right there he would qualify.  I just retained a lawyer, still have to go through pre bankruptcy course and so on.  It will be a while.

Re: How to join NCFU and rebuild as a civilian the right way

As long as he is retired navy, he's eligible. Just because he was in the Navy is not enough unfortunately.

Well he's not retired was only in the Navy for 4 years and was given an honorable discharge.  Would that make him eligible?

Re: How to join NCFU and rebuild as a civilian the right way

Okay so they confirmed they received my paperwork. If and when they approve me should I try to apply for a NFCU credit card right away or garden the account for awhile? My thoughts if they pulled my credit for the account I might as well use the same pull for a credit card?
Thoughts?
