@Anonymous wrote:Can you get this card after a chapter 7 bk discharge and will they pull your credit report?
Yes you can. I had my chapter 7 bankruptcy discharged in 2012. When I joined last month, I was approved for a cash rewards Visa with a credit line of 14k and 12.9% APR.

Well I haven't filed yet I have retained a lawyer, should I apply the day I get my discharge paper or wait a month or so that all my cc balances are 0 and that it shows chapter 7 bankruptcy before I apply?

It's a signature Visa. I have no idea what the qualifications are. I assume it's basically based of your CR and ability to pay, etc.

First thing you should do after your discharge is pull all three CR's. Make sure all accounts show 0 balance and says 'included in bankruptcy" .If not dispute them as included in bankruptcy. I would start with applying for a Cap One if you didn't burn them. Some here have been approved for NFCU credit cards shortly after BK but generally they like to see six months of credit history. You can open a checking and savings after discharge but keep NFCU does a hard pull on every account opened.
I am going to burn capital one I am over there limit which was $5,000. Not sure if I will qualify for a discover it secured card. May have to go with USAA or maybe take a chance again with Cap One. I will of course check my credit report and make any changes. Already have a checking account through my bank. As for savings I was thinking of Synchrony back since they have a high yield.
Can I say it?
I ❤️ NFCU
Yep, was approved today! $2,000 cashRewards at 9.9%
