I paid $2400 but lawyer got great reviews and seemed to know very much about what he's doing .... a lawyer I saw prior was charging $1400 but said I could only apply for chapter 13... maybe d Location also matters I'm in Los Angeles
This is what happened to me. The $1000 lawyer said I'd have to do a 13 because of my income, but he only works on 7s. He referred me to a lawyer for the 13 and when I called, that lawyer said, "oh no, we can get you into a 7."
I paid 1000 plus the filing fee. I paid for classes needed seperated (currently only have one
of two completed, need to double check when the last one needs to be done with my meeting for
late April). I got 3 different "quotes." 1500 and 2800. These were with firms I researched, having good reviews on Avoo, Yelp, and Google. There were some that were far less, but I didn't like what I read when researching reviews and experiences. So for me, 1000 is more than far (stretch for me personally to pay, but hey, it had to be done, might as well get it done right). To answer your question, do you feel the value and experiences matches what you're paying? If not seek others that more align with those standards and know it may be more moolah, but of course, it'll be worth it if its a closer match the results you expect and demand.
It's high. I paid $1400.
Wow, I wish I saw this before today. I just met with my lawyer this morning and I'm paying $2,200 (DFW as well).
I paid $1400 to my own BK attorney whom I retained through my local attorney-referral service.
