Is late payment history removed in a bankruptcy?

If you have a 180 late on file (or many 180 lates) are these removed in the bankruptcy as well?

Or is the debt only removed but the history of the late payment remains which will still hurt your score for up to 7 years?

No, your payment history remains the same as it was as of the filing date. The change made is the iib and zero balance notation.

The only type of loan you can change the past payment history is your student loans. Go to the student loan forum to get details on rehabbing a student loan if this applies to you.

StaringOver10 is correct, accurate delinquencies prior to filing can remain for up the to seven years plus six months after DOFD.  So if you first went delinquent two years before you filed and never paid back to current it would be closer to five than seven years. If you went delinquent close to filing then the negative entries fall off at seven years leavig you a clean line with IIB (which is a negative itself).

Be careful that creditors don't continue reporting with a status date after your discharge (which could make the negative seem more recent).  I had to fight directly with a couple of creditors who were doing that.  As long as nothing shows a status after discharge the impact will be reduced as time passes.

Re: Is late payment history removed in a bankruptcy?

My question is this - my payment history was all removed on all my credit reports after I filed.

Is that not the norm?  It is like that on Equifax, Experian and Transunion.

BK Discharge 2/11/14

Currently in the garden.
