UPDATE:
My 341 meeting was today. It was very uneventful. I waited through about 6 others and then I was called. My lawyer and I went up and I was sworn to tell the truth. He asked me only 3 questions.
1. Have you read over everyihing in the file? Yes
2. Does anyone owe you money? No
3. Do you plan to sue anyone? No
Then he said, "That concludes my questions and your creditor meeting.". I said thanks and left. That was literally it! Mine was a no asset C7.
Update
DISCHARGED!
I checked pacer today and I am officially discharged. I am excited to start the next steps in my process! I am going to wait for everytihng to hit credit and such so I can apply for some low end cards to start the rebuild. I burned capital one for a secured card so I will see how that goes.
Current scores:
EX:519 EQ:566 TU:492
Wish me luck on the rebuild!
Woooohooooo! Now let the fun begin
@C_DUBYA wrote:Thanks all. So far the couple surprises that have happened in the early days of filing before the creditor meeting:
1. DTE (Local energy power company) abruptly closed my account and reopened it as new and demanded a $200 deductible. Upon callign was told it was because of bankruptcy. I explained I didnt include DTE in it, and was 100% up todate. They didnt care. FYI to others in DTE areas.
2. My truck lease is with my father and through Chrysler Capital. I am keeping the lease. Abruptly when I went to login and pay my bill the site wouldnt let me login and said, "Your account ahs been disabled please call customer service". I reached out to the lawyer who said that with the automatic stay I have to mail in my payments. And that they are working on getting a lease assumption agreement for the vehicle, so I will assume the contractual liability. (I now have to figure out where to mail the check as Ive always done it online)
More to come as things happen. In 17 days I have my creditor meeting just want to get that part overwith.
I remember with my first BK in 2006 I had to mail my Auto payment to a new address until it was discharged. I figured out years later, after going over the reported balances on my credit reports, that none of those payments ever actually got applied to the balance. Over $2k just disappeared into the banks "BK" department. HSBC was the bank.
Really? That is definitely something I must verify now that things are cleared up. Thanks for mentioning it!
Update:
I was discharged yesterday and today I tried for a capital one prequal thinking I wouldnt be able to yet. But sure enough it showed me two cards as options! The funny part is I burned cap 1 in my BK7 however it was a secured card. I am not sure if that matters.
So I got approved for a $300 limit Cap One Platinum card. Then I grabbed a Discover IT secured card just to get two cards reporting and since that one does graduate over time. Thats it for now and I will just sit back for months and see how this goes. I will probably get a credit builder loan too but not sure where to go for that. I am a member at NFCU. Do they have one?
Update:
I have gotten my Discover Secured IT card, and Capital one. I also did a self lender loan for that line. Today Discover hit my TU and things began to change. FICO went up 26 and my BS Credit Karma went up 97! lol. Sure wish that was true. So score update:
Starting FICO August 2017: EQ: 507- EX: 491 - TU: 490
DISCHARGED IN September. 2 credit cards gotten, and 1 self lender.
Current FICO October 2017: EQ: 561 - EX: 537 - TU: 547
These scores are not yet showing all my current credit stuff, and my good payments yet. My TU on credit karma is at 657. lol. Big difference!
Goal 1 is above 620 for all. Slowly going up.
Now my credit karma jumped 101 points on EQ. Lets see what it does to my real FICO.
CK: 657, 660
REAL FICO: 590, 570
Well it is nowDecember and I am well on my way to improving. My scores are now 628, 630, and 622. Considering in June I was 490s I am very happy about where I am.
Things continue to move in the right direction. My scores are now 640, 630, and 627 just 5 months after BK7 discharge. I now have 5 credit cards, (1 secured, 4 unsecured), and moving right along. I have preapproval for a new vehicle but holding off until Spring. I am keeping utilization low to below 10% which is helping my score. I am gunning for 650+ across all three before my 1 year.
