Re: My Journey! From Great Credit to Ch7...

The time seems to pass pretty quickly after the 341 meeting. In a no asset case, you'll more than likely not have any creditors object. I was nervous about the same thing when I filed. I just discharged on Aug 22 and have already been approved for my first CC with Cap One. Good luck to you!

UPDATE! Re: My Journey! From Great Credit to Ch7...

Well, yesterday was my objections deadline and no one filed anything! It is officially day 61 and although I do not have discharge papers in hand (nor has it been entered into PACER yet), I am breaking into my happy dance!!! ITS OVER Y'ALL!!!!! Best choice I've ever made in my life. Let me tell you all out there something, I had stellar credit and a wallet filled with all of the best reward cards. All the pretty metal Chase cards, my Discover It (Gosh, I'm gonna miss that one!), my amazing Amex Every Day Preferred (if you didn't burn Amex in BK, please get this card 3-5 years post DC! It is awesome), my Quicksilver, etc.. Basically all of the great cards from Citi, Amex, Chase, Bank of Anerica, you name it!

Why am I telling y'all this? Because having all these beautiful cards WAS NOT WORTH IT!!!! I did not need over 20 credit cards. I blame nobody but myself, but the MyFico credit card boards as well as the "approvals" section gave me an itch I had to scratch. I became obsessed with having stellar credit (which I did), and now look at me. DO NOT FALL INTO THIS TRAP!!! Yes, having credit cards is almost a necessity to building amazing credit, but do so responsibly and make sure you can afford it! I fell into the balance transfer and applying for 0% intro promo card crap. Now my wallet is about a pound lighter lol. By the grace of the credit card Gods, my oldest credit card (almost 11 years!) survived my bankruptcy!!!! Yes, it's subprime and has an awful APR but I don't care! It had a zero balance from time of filing (attorney said I didn't have to list it as it wasn't a debt) up until now. I put gas on the card this morning Smiley Happy

I cannot wait to be officially discharged but I already feel my fresh start. I woke up to a beautiful sunrise and all that weight (and debt) I had been carrying on my shoulders is gone! I got to keep my home and my car. I cannot wait to start rebuilding my credit and will be lurking the "to 700" thread as soon as I receive my discharge papers and check my reports in the next month or so. I plan to keep you all updated on my rebuilding journey! Also wanted to give advice to those on the fence about filing, if you truly see no other way out and it's taking a toll on your mental health....PLEASE just do it! It is not to be taken lightly and requires planning and a whole lot of thinking. I wish I had done it much sooner.

Sorry for writing a novel. I'm just so happy! Any advice anyone would like to share would be great! This forum has been amazing and I feel like I'm not alone in this. I look forward to continuing to stay on here and help others as well as continue to learn new things myself. I hope everyone has a beautiful day! Keep your heads up! Smiley Happy And THANK YOU so much to those who replied to my thread with your words of kindness. I appreciate it more than you will ever know!!

Congrats on your discharge and your Capital One card!! I burned them in BK (for $2800 approximately) so I think I have to wait a year from what I have read? Which card did you get? I am so happy for you! Sounds like you're off to a great start. Best of luck to you! Smiley Happy

Re: My Journey! From Great Credit to Ch7...

Welp.... Objection deadline was 9/26 and no one has objected according to Pacer. Status says awaiting discharge but I still have not received it. I know I'm being impatient but I'm dying to start over and it's taking too long. How long should I wait before asking what is going on?

Re: My Journey! From Great Credit to Ch7...

OFFICIALLY DISCHARGED ON 10/3!!!!!! YAY!!! Hoping my case is officially closed soon as the trustee previously filed a no asset report. I know I'm supposed to wait a month or two, but since I have no inquiries I went ahead and applied for Credit One....and I was approved!!! $500 starting limit but it's something! Now the rebuilding begins!

Re: My Journey! From Great Credit to Ch7...

Since my discharge I have been approved for CreditOne. Also applied for Fingerhut and got the "pending" message and says to call them so they can get additional information.

Re: My Journey! From Great Credit to Ch7...

Approved for Fingerhut revolving credit card! $300 starting limit due to the BK, but hey...it's something! They are also making me pay a $30 "down payment" (LOL!!) when I place my first order. Totally ok with me considering all the other cards I qualify for have ridiculous fees! I'm excited! Does anyone know if this account will grow with me if I continue making on time payments or pay off each month in full? Thanks so much for reading my journey!
