Re: My Journey! From Great Credit to Ch7...

If you haven't already, please check out the HOW TO: From BK7 discharge to 700 in 24 months or less! thread, for suggestions on how to rebuild.

Other suggestions: Try for a Capital One card. You may not be blacklisted. If you are, they won't pull credit, and you'll have to wait for 1-year post-discharge to get approved. If you're not blacklisted, you may get approved!

Since most major creditors have been burned, I'd also check into the Ollo card, which is a relatively new issuer. Don't go wild applying, of course, but try to get away from the likes of Credit One as soon as you can.

Hope that helps!

Re: My Journey! From Great Credit to Ch7...

I tried for the secured card Smiley Sad They denied me, which I expected. No hard pulls, as you mentioned. I'll try again at a later time. I burned them for $2800 when I filed back in June. Discharged 10/03/2017. I probably try way too soon. I'm showing positive payment history with my old 1FBUSA card that I've had over 10 years that survived bankruptcy, as well as with my CreditOne and my Fingerhut accounts. Hopefully this will help next time I apply. Thanks so much for your advice! Smiley Happy

Omg totally missed your comment about the 1 year post discharge thing. I'm a dummy! Need to go get my coffee lol. I have checked the thread you mentioned and will continue to do so! I will definitely look into the Ollo card! I've heard good things about Merrick Bank as well. I plan on cancelling my CreditOne before the $35 annual fee hits next October! Thanks again!

Re: My Journey! From Great Credit to Ch7...

Oh and I forgot to mention as part of my journey, my case was officially CLOSED 11/18/2017. So it took over a month post-discharge but it was such a great feeling to know it's 100% over! Most stressful 4 months of my life but so worth it! $68,000+ in credit card debt GONE!!! Got to keep my home and all personal belongings/assets. Lesson learned. Smiley Happy
