My car is in my and my mother's name and she's filing bankruptcy.....

Question:

My mother is filing for Chapter 13 bankruptcy. She said that the lawyer told her that since my car is in both mine and my mother's name, she can add it to the bankruptcy and they will negotiate the pay off amount for the car to what the car is actually worth (I am currently upside down about $5K, and have never missed a payment). This seems like the best option for me, but I'm wondering if this will affect my credit score in any way, even though my mother is the one filing bankruptcy.
