Obtaning the same card that was included in bankruptcy.

I filed for Chapter 7 in 2009 and was discharged in 2010. I had several cards that were included in the bankruptcy. BOFA, AMEX, Chase...etc. Will these creditors approve me for another card when my scores are high enough or will I be denied because of the previous accounts that were included in bankruptcy?

Thanks for the help. Smiley Happy

Re: Obtaning the same card that was included in bankruptcy.

My bankruptcy was discharged Feb 2012 and I included cards with BOA, Capital One, and Chase. BOA and Chase are not bk friendly. BOA may approved you for a secured card. Capital 1 is bk friendly but not to me since I burned them in my bankruptcy. My Amex card was closed years before my bankruptcy and I was declined due to bankruptcy.

All of those listed will not approve you once they have taken a loss.

Not sure of BoA, but Amex and Chase will consider leting you back in, but not before 10 years has passed and the BK is off your reports - even then it is hit or miss, will require you to call and speak to an analyst, and depends on the mood of that analyst.  BoA would be the only out of three that would have approved you with the BK showing had you not included them after about 2-3 years, most success is seen after 5 years.

Filed BK 7: 2/28/2012 | Discharged: 7/24/2012
POST BK APPROVALS:
NFCU nRewards Secured Visa: $1000 7/12| Apple FCU Secured Visa: $1000 9/12
Toyota Finance Lease: 0% | 0.0008 MF 10/12
Barclay Apple Finance Visa: $2200 1/13
NFCU cashRewards Visa: $2500 3/13

I'm curious about BofA as well.

Has anyone tried to app with BofA after they burned them in their BK?

I was discharged in 11/2009 and discharged debt an a GECRB card (Mean's Wearhouse).  Approved for Walmart Discover 9/2012.  I hadn't tried before then so don't know how long after BK, but apparently GE does forgive...

Re: Obtaning the same card that was included in bankruptcy.

I'm new... First posting (yay).

I am in the rebuilding process of a Chapter 7 BK, discharged 12/12.  Cap 1 was one of the cards I burned in the process.  I had a $750CL.  3 months post-discharge, I applied for a Cap 1 with a $2,000 CL in the Credit Steps Program.  After reading, I'll call the backdoor number after the 4th statement to attempt a customer service based CLI before the CS auto CLI hits.

Re: Obtaning the same card that was included in bankruptcy.

I have a BOA secured card, and I tried to get approved for a Regular Credit card, and they denied me, saying I had a prior BK on my credit report from 2005. They would not even give me a partially secured credit card. I applied for my first secured visa card, with my own deposit money in 2007 and the BK was on my credit report then, but now they are refusing me for all credit cards. BOA is very unfriendly for anything negative on credit report, even a unpaid medical bill and especially collections. I have paid my Secured credit card on time with them and have never been late but they still refuse me any other type of credit card. Stay away from BOA, because they will probably deny you.

Capital One forgives. I filed 1/30/13 and was approved for $300 CL on 3/11/13. Not much, but it's a start!
