Friggin' great Bams!
I take it you don't have any other secured cards reporting either (the original Q said NFCU Secured). Would that be correct?
-SM
Correct, no NFCU or any other secured card. I have the $2K Cap1, $900 Merrick, $300 Target store card (I shop there all the time and figured I may as well get the 5% discount while building a little on-time payment history), and the student loans, which actually show up as 3 trade lines (two of which will be PIF in 3 months' time and I'll be awfully sad to lose the open, positive accounts). That's it, though my reports show an open and current Cap1 and Banana Republic card. I haven't used these cards for years, but they're apparently being factored into my available credit, for a total of $7K before the Discover approval. Since the bankruptcy I've shredded offers from Credit One, First Premier, and Cap1 Auto and various car dealers. My car was paid off 5 years ago and I jettisoned my house in a short sale about 2 weeks before I filed the Chapter 7.

@Anonymous - so now we have someone with a store card just go and get approved for Discover months earlier than the plan lines out. I think Discover has a mind of its own and we will never figure it out! hahahaha Congrats again BAM!
Still doesn't have a secured card though!
RE doing it earlier than plan.... I figured that was possible. My guess was 6mo post BK w/ established TLs. I'm not saying that the plan does things the fastest way possible... just that the plan works to get to 700 (+/-).

Very true! 8 more months until 24 months post d/c for me! I am in the garden to stay for now, hopefully I can join you in the 700 club! Can't wait to see the follow up to the 700 in 24 months thread. Thanks again SM!
I just got approved for Discover and DCU. I app'd discover first, approved 3k, I did not have to recon it was instant approval. I applied in August 2013 and was denied. I just hit 2 years post discharge in Dec, and thought i would try again.
1. Had you ever had a Disco (or were an AU on a Disco) before?
Nope.
2. Was your secured NFCU card still on your CRs?
Never got an NFCU. Don't qualify.
3. Did you have any Inq's that were less than 6mo old?
Yes.
4. How many total Inq's did you have on whatever Disco pulled?
5
5. Did you have at least 1 revolving TL that was more than 6 mo old that showed monthly useage and PIF every month?
Yes. I have multiple that are PIF monthly.
6. Did you have at least 1 installment TL that was more than 6mo old with perfect payment history?
I have had a car loan since 6 months post discharge from my credit union. I have perfect pymt history on that. It will be 2 years in May.
7. When you apped, were you at least 12 months post-filing? (not discharge, discharge doesn't matter in this case... filing does)
Yes, 25 months Post Discharge.
Here is my information! As a side note - i have never had a secured card, I got a capital one card one month past discharge. Then I got a Kohls card. So i do have store cards too. My income is 85k. Discover was my highest CL. They gave me 3k. Weirdly enough, DCU gave me 3k the next day as well.
Hope this helps.

Did you ever have a secured card post-BK? If yes, was it open/closed when you apped for the Disco?

Nope, I have never had a secured card. I got a couple capital one cards and used those as my main rebuilders.
Congrats Poozie! That is a pretty decent starting limit from Discover as well. Thank you for sharing your results with us
