@SM, you have awesome FICO scores 3 1/2 years post discharged, I am sitting at 680 + on TU FICO, 715 EQ myFICO(08 Model), and maybe 700 +EX FICO 2 1/2 years post discharged.
Can't seem to get a break with TU and EQ myFICO(04 Model), both at around 680+.
@mrsjr, don't know if you have a CH 7 or not but you have great FICO.
On a brighter note, was instant approved for Barclays US Air Card with a 680 TU FICO with a $5K limit, "World Mastercard"

Thank you! I do have a Ch 7 that was discharged almost 2 years ago. Congrats on your Barclay approval! That's a nice limit (which is the next thing I will be working on - getting my limits raised on my cards).
I went to Chase a couple of weeks ago because I was having problems with my debit card. While getting a new debit card the banker told me that I was pre-approved for a Chase credit card. This was after filing for bankruptcy, I have my meeting with the creditors next week. I told the banker about the bankruptcy and she told me it would be there if I need it. After my bankruptcy gets discharged will I still be able to apply for the pre approved credit card or will I no longer be pre approved? Should I try applying for it after my bankruptcy is discharged? When does the bankruptcy affect my credit score after filing or after discharge?

Chase has a pre-qual site you can check out. A "pre-approval" or a "pre-qualification" does not mean you will be approved though. I would not even waste the INQ to find out until at least 3 years post d/c with major rebuilding efforts. YMMV and I can't say for certain though!
OK, thanks for the information. It's been a long time since I applied for a credit card so I don't know the process.

No worries! Chase is considered a prime lender and not that BK friendly. Fresh out of BK go after sub prime lenders and work your way up.

I'm sorry, I would definitely go for the card. To me, to go for a sub prime lender, when you have a preapproval, is running scared. It's one inquiry! Could you imagine if you got it, but weren't going to apply? You'd be denying yourself a prime card, because of the fear of 1 inquiry!!! Let's say, you applied for and got approved for 3 sub prime cards, at the same time, (to get your suggested three credit cards on your report) that means you'd only have 4 recent inquiries---I don't think you'd be doing yourself much harm lol
No reason to be sorry! I just posted what I would do
I can't say I wouldn't be interested in the results! A Chase approval a week out of BK would be awesome! I played things a lot more safe through my rebuild. Like I said, YMMV.
OK I will go talk to the banker when my my BK gets discharged in a few months. The deadline for objection to discharge is in a month. How many inquiries can I have before it starts hurting my credit?
