So I keep getting letters.....

So I keep getting letters saying congratulations on putting your bankruptcy behind you.  However, it still shows up on my credit report and I am afraid to open or apply for any new lines of credit.  Anyone ever have success when this happens???

Re: So I keep getting letters.....

Hi T50,

Did you recently discharge a BK?

If I remember correctly, we received some letters like that after discharge.  Most (in fact, all) of ours were pretty rotten deals.

As far as showing up on your credit report, Your BK will remain on your CR's for 10 years if it was a CH 7; and 7 years of it was a discharged CH 13.

We did have great success in the months after discharge, but not from these types of offers.  We opened up CC's, refinanced our mortgage, and bought a "new" used car.  But we did our homework - especially on the CC's - some CC's will not approve anyone with a BK still on their CR's; and others will.

Hope that helps a little.
