I have read a few times on this forum where people said they have some sort of special statement on their credit reports about their BK stemming from extenuating circumstance such as disability. Does anyone know anything about this, if it helps, and how to do it?
I had to file chapter 7 last year in May due to about $700k in unpaid medical bills that I incurred when I suddenly developed progressive MS and another auto-immune disease a few years ago which left me 100% disabled. I did not have insurance at the time and that is why everything went south so quickly. Almost all of the debt in my BK was medical.
Would having a statement make a difference when it comes to approvals/denials for credit?
Where is the statement at on the CR and how does it get there?
If anyone has any insight on this, I would appreciate it. I am trying to rebuild after my BK and I want to look into anything that might help.
I have never personally heard of this but I'm sure if you went before the court, it could be added to your filing which is on your CR
It's not done with the courts, but done with the credit bureaus...and from what I have read - it has no impact at all.
Agreed. ^
Whether your BK filing was due to extended unemployment (along with millions of others in the recession) like mine or due to medical bills... Bottom line is...
Nobody cares. Nobody being creditors.
(You can still add a sympathy statement to your CR though)
Thanks for the replies. I have studied for more info since I made this post and it seems that it is better to keep my big mouth shut. LOL.
