Re: Statuate of limitations in foreclosure

Do you think you could sell the house for more than you owe? If so, have you considered putting it on the market? At age 76 w/ prostate cancer I imagine moving is the last thing you want to do, but getting out from under the house and moving into a smaller apartment may be more suitable and better for you.

Good idea Dave - even if the house has no equity it can be sold as a short sale. Any of these methods removes the mortgage lien: traditional sale, short sale, or f/c.

The potential tax implications of a short sale could bring some serious consequences of their own.  Before considering a short sale you need to consult with a real estate and/or tax attorney.  I know funds are tight, but you don't want to owe the IRS...

NFCU Rewards - $18,000, NFCU Signature - $18,000, NFCU LOC - $15,000, Care Credit - $7,700, Lowe's - $6,400, Capital One QS - $5,000, Walmart - $5,000, Amazon - $4,000
