Suggestions regarding BK friendly banks

So my BK -7 Discharged in Nov 2012. I have had a perfect payment hx since then and have avg of 12 yrs credit hx. I have had success getting some decent CL from Barclays, Capital One, Sears, Discover and Target. I have had no success with CITI, AMEX, CHASE and B of A. Is this pretty much the trend and how much longer does the BK need to age before these prime lenders will consider me.? I have an avg of 3 baddies per bureau not incl the BK. All of the baddies show as paid, included in the BK. I have no collections and no current late pays.

No success here with Citi and Chase...  not even wasting my time with B of A.

I was approved for AmEx 5 years after filing.

None of the above were included in my Ch 13.

All of the above aren't BK friendly...  even less if you burned them.

Re: Suggestions regarding BK friendly banks

Citi is always 7 years if they were not IIB.

Chase is usually 7 years if they were not IIB.  There are occasional reports of people getting Chase after 3 years, but those are pretty rare.

Here's my case BK7 Filed in 2010. I Included Bank of America, Citi, Chase and Wells Fargo in my BK (mind you these were all real estate loans) no Credit card loans in my BK. I did have very bad usage of credit cards before filing for BK...they were all settled before the filing.  I have also been banking with Wells fargo and Bank of America for over 10 years.

I walked into Bank of America last month to apply for their rewards credit card, did not get a response immediately, I was told I would get something in the mail. A few weeks pass and I have a letter here Thanking me for my application application but they are unable to approve my original request, However I have been preselected to receive the BankAmerica Rewards Platinum Visa card with a $500 Credit Limit. There's even a note at the bottom of the letter stating that they based the decision on previously filed BK.

Sending the signed letter back this weekend but it looks like I might be back in with them.

Yeah I have no plans to apply with either until everything falls off my reports in the coming months.

Tried to recon Chase earlier this year and was denied... just short of 6 years from filing.  Same with Citi.  The reps brought up the Ch 13 although neither were included.

They are just PITA lenders.  Smiley Wink

Re: Suggestions regarding BK friendly banks

Thanks for the update. I may re-apply with B of A in another year or so. I included them (CC) and Citibank (property)  in the BK but did not include CHASE or AMEX.

Do not waste any hard pulls on Citi, Chase, nor Bank of America.  They WILL NOT issue major cards UNTIL your bankruptcy falls off.  These posts on here and other websites about people calling recon lines and getting approved are just not true, sorry but they just aren't.  I've applied and called and have been told point blank to re-apply when the bankruptcy falls off, per policy.  If anyone tells you any different I'd ask to see proof.  Same with Discover.  Amex MAY work with you after 7 years if you have an otherwise decent file.

Not 100% accurate...

I'd agree about Citi/Chase/BoA.  Chase apparently also has a new policy about their branded cards (Freedom, CSP, etc) and approvals... more than 5 new accounts in the last 2 years is an automatic denial for too many new accounts.  There's quite a few threads over in the CC and CC App forums on their new policy.

As for Discover and AmEx... I was denied for both in November 2013...  approved for both in December 2014.

I filed Ch 13 in April 2009 and was discharged in May 2013...  and it isn't scheduled to fall off my credit report till April 2016.

I didn't burn any of the above in my BR.  If you didn't burn Discover and AmEx you can get in around 5 years after filing with a clean profile... I did anyway.  No luck with Citi/Chase and have no plans to app with them (or BoA) anytime soon.  I've made it this far without these 3 PITA lenders... don't need 'em.  Smiley Wink
