My husband filed bankruptcy in 2010. It was discharged in March 2011. He has 2 credit cards (credit one & merrick bank), both 2 years old. Utilization is minimal. His car loan is 3 yrs old (almost paid off). He also has a GE Capital account that he paid off last year. His score had been stuck around 675 for a months. I got him a walmart card the end of November and his score went down. It hurt his AAoA. Reasons for his scores refer to the BK and short AAoA. I think he had closed accounts fall off which hurt his AAoA because he had a very long and very good credit history prior to the BK.
What steps can we do just to get his score back over 700 where it used to be?
Time would seem to be the only real answer here. You have 3 credit cards for him now, a 2nd installment loan might give you a small boost, but beyond that just letting that BK age would appear to be the only thing missing.
