Since my BK was discharged in July 2012, I decided to apply at NFCU. The process was fairly simple and I received my member # right away. I opened a checking and saving with only $5. My only question is was it a good decision to app for the rewards cards on the same day?? Not sure if I will get the card. Think I read somewhere that they use TU which is good for me because it is my highest score right now at 619. Got a call later today stating I needed to provide id, ssc and proof of address. Is this standard or the beginning of a letdown? Heading to the branch in the morning with info in tow. Does anyone know what the starting limit can be on the reward visa card? Don't wanna get in too deep too soon..
I don't think it was a bad thing to try....I may be wrong but I think they use the same inquiry. I don't know how they are with past BKs though. The request for info is standard for them.
NFCU is notoriously BK friendly! You've made a great choice here.
Now, do you already have any lines reporting post BK? If not, you are likely to be offered a secured card option first. Which is not bad.
If you already have lines reporting, get ready to be impressed. NFCU is a Godsend to post BK credit rebuild. There are numerous 3-5k rewards visa, NAVcheck approvals post BK here in the forums.
I'm currently working on getting in myself. I'm willing to work a street corner to get in with this CU.
Shols44, I currently have 2 line reporting post bk. Merrick Bank (600) and Firest Premier (300). Both lines are 1-2% utilization only had em for a month or so. I do, however, have a lot of inquiries maybe 5-6. Hopefully I get approved, dont care about the CL for now Im nsure it will grow with time! By reading the forums I can clearly see the generosity of the cu! They didn't offer the secured card upfront, but told me that they will counter-offer that if I'm not approved. They called me last night requesting additional info for cc fraud prevention so we will see. Not sure what that was all abt. I took my info in this morning and signed the signature card. They said they'll be in touch via email or phone.. They faxed my documents over. We'll see what happens. Will update with any info. If I'm not approved, I will garden for the next 6 mos...
Great luck! Let me know how it pans out for you!
Thanks! I'm super excited and worried at the same time!
Got an update from CreditKarma and NFCU did 2 hard pulls!!! Oh no!!! I thought they would use the same pull for both accounts!! uh-oh!

I have seen a lot of other threads where they will not use the same HP for different products. Hopefully someone with more experience can chime in for you. Crossing my fingers for you!
I would be very very shocked if they don't approve you! 99% chance you are approved, and I mean big! I can't tell you how many times I've sobbed when I see the 6 months post-BK 5K limits approved by NFCU.
They are hard pull happy! Don't worry about it. The generous CLs definitely make up for it. I'm telling you, I would rob a small child if it meant joining NFCU.
