Those who had a lot of lates before BK

How has your rebuild been? Are you getting approved for things, or experiencing that you're still being denied, due to "too many derogatory accounts"? Is there anything that can be done about this?

I have 8 derogatory accounts IIB. All went unpaid for 12 or more months before filing. I think they have actually been a benefit as they have kept my average age of accounts over 4 years even after opening 20 new accounts. Best card is Cap One Venture 26k.
BK CH7 Discharged 03/2015
FICO8 EQ-657 TU-657 EX-665
Revolving credit lines 125k.

^^^^^^^ this!

Lates and anything that happened on your accts before you filed, will report as such, and unfortunately are reporting correctly.  I was late for a year prior to filing, and it reflects, but they cant report late from the month you filed BK on....period.

I have 6 IIB still reporting, and some of those lates have literallyly disappeared over time, but they are some of my oldest accts as well...from 2002-2006...and arent scheduled to fall off till 4/2019.  They are helping with my AAOA right now, and can stay for all I care.

Just so you know, whether or not those accounts were late before you filed, they are still considered "derogatory", as they are/were IIB.

I had 0 lates up until filing back in 2005, however all accounts were "derogatory".

Re: Those who had a lot of lates before BK

I am 18 months post discharge. Before filing, I had schedule F'd 14 lates. Bad I know. All of which became derog of course after DC. I should note however, that immediately after discharge, I was super vigorous about making sure that all accounts were reporting IIB and zero balanced. After about the 12 months mark, I asked the three CRB's to remove some of them (just out of a long shot) and EQ & EX did just that. EX even removed some released/paid tax liens for me and they were still 12 months before removal date.TU didn't budge on any of my requests. Moral of my tale here is that while the IIB's will be derog and keep reporting, it doesn't mean you can't try to petition the CRB's to remove them. As always YMMV..
