I'm about 9 months post BK. Current score in my signature. My EQ was 587 according to Cap1 but I went on a mini app spree so it tanked a bit. I also didn't find this board until a few weeks ago, so I'd been running my cards close to the limit. I've paid them down to under 50% already. Heading towards under 10% by July.

Hi,
Had to file for bk chp 7 in January 2011. Just got it discharged in May 2011. It was the hardest thing I had to do so far. Had perfect credit. Sad to see it in the 500's. As of June 12, 2011 Equifax is at a 611. I hope one day to be back in the 700's +.

Could I ask what you have done to improve your score and what credit cards you have?
Thank you.

After filing my score dropped down to a low of 531, and then it's slowly been working it's way back up since. Since then I've made sure to never miss a payment, and I always pay more then the minimum. And the past few months I've made sure that my cards are PIF every month.
During my CH7, I re-affirmed my auto loan with Citizens Auto Finance, and paid that on-time every month until my loan was paid off in August 2009.
Since CH7 BK, I've gotten the following cards:
08/2008 - Capital One unsecured cc - $750 limit (currently $2,000 limit)
09/2008 - Target store card - $200 limit (still only $200 limit)
09/2008 - HSBC unsecured cc - $320 limit (closed back in Jan 2010 - interest & fee too high)
12/2008 - Hooters Card/Merrick bank - $500 limit (currently $1,400 limit)
02/2009 - another Capital One unsecured cc - $500 limit (currently $1,500 limit)
04/2011 - Kohls/Cap1 card - $300 limit
I recently also got a new car loan ($21k) at 4.9% through Subaru Finance/Chase.

Ch7 filed 10/2001
For me it was an immediate drop to 580, recovered over the next several years to around 680 where it held for 3-4 years... this last year it has been stuck at around 702 +/- 5 points.... We will see where this puts me after it falls off in a few months.

We'll be excited to hear from you when it ages off!
Congrats on your great work rebuilding - 702 FICO in pretty darn nice!

Interesting, is that your EQ that stays around 702? I filed roughly the same time and my EQ will not move above 704. Wonder if we are just similar profiles or what.
