When to apply to NFCU

I have all my decreased grandfathers records to apply to NFCU. My BK should be getting discharged by the end of next week. Should I wait to apply after discharge or can I apply now?

Re: When to apply to NFCU

You can apply for membership now, if you'd like. The soft credit pull is used mainly just to verify identity.

Do not apply for credit at Navy Federal until after your Equifax and Transunion have been updated to show the bankruptcy has been discharged.

You could probably apply for a secured loan (not card) prior to discharge if you wanted to, as there is no credit check for those. Hope that helps!

Note: I am a Navy Federal employee. My opinions are my own and do not represent Navy Federal Credit Union.

I would get your account open now.. Every now and then it can take some time, better to be prepared Smiley Happy
