collection not on CR

We have a local collection company and I have 3 accounts with them and they use to be on my CR but must have fallen off but I still get letters demanding payment now I feel these are zombies should I send a DV letter to them and get the proof of dates

Has it been more than 7 years? If it has then its a FDCPA violation! I would keep all notices in case you need to take them to court at a later date.
