First off I would like to thank everyone on here for sharing their stories and advice. I'm new to my rebuild and a lot of questions I had have been answered. My wife and I declared Chapter 13 bankruptcy in November of 2010 and on September 8 we received our discharge. I had to get a car loan 18 months ago when my car was totaled. That may have been the toughest part of the whole process; trying to get the insurance company, the Trustee's office, the bank and the car dealership all on the same page was a nightmare. If nothing else I don't want to ever get put in a position where I have to ask for permission to get a car loan. We applied for a Capital One card this morning and got an instant approval for $3000 for me and $1000 for her. Hopefully in 6 months I will be able to refinance my car loan for a better rate(it's 17% right now).

If you can get 1 Cap 1 card you will be able to get another one. If you do it quick you will only have 1 HP on each CB. Don't wait 30 days like I did. My scores jumped up a ton as soon as the first card showed up on all 3 CB. Good luck on your rebuild!
Good luck on your journey!
Congrats and welcome to myFICO!
Welcome and congrats! I truly admire those who made it through the grueling journey of Ch13. I would check and see if you can refi that car now through Cap1. They may do it for you. And yes, do a second card from Cap1 same day. 1 set of pulls. I did it the next day and it cost me 2 sets. Good luck!
Congrats and bestof luck on your new journey of rebuilding
Congrats
Try Cap1 auto to refinance your car as soon as you feel comfortable (like now with that rate if it were me) - the worst thing is they say no, but the best thing is they say yes and significantly lower that rate.
I refinanced with them in July and it was the easiest process ever (went from 7.59% to 3.99%). July 31 approved and within a few days, my old loan showed as paid off. They are quick, hassle free and very helpful with questions.
Congrats on your discharge.
Like you I never want to be in a situation where I have to beg for a loan. I want them to beg me to take out a loan. I want them to fight over my business. That day will come.
