Not sure why you would think that.

 

80,000 Ultimate Rewards points are 80,000 Ultimate Rewards points.

 

You could use (waste) them as statement credits for $800, sure, but they are points just as advertised.

So it is the equivalent of $800 in statement credits? Is essentially what I was asking. I've booked travel through chase before and honestly I get better deals couponing or using Groupon which is why I prefer statement credits. Wow that's a good deal then though $800 for only 5k spend lol Amex only gave me a $250 bonus for 5k spend Smiley Sad

Oh i gotcha! Probably you would want to transfer the points into airline partner programs instead of using as cash. If i want to fly Delta, i move Chase points into Korean Air and book an award flight on delta that way. Seems to be worth more than 1 cent per point.
