Citi AA business card

There is a 50k AA mile offer out there for the citi aa business card. I am considering apping for it. Last time I checked, although it has been like 6 months or so, I was at my overall cap with available citi credit. My business is a sole prop and I have business credit cards but none with citi. Has anyone had this situation before where they are at their personal limit with citi, but are able to get additional credit for their business? I could reduce credit lines with my citi cards, but I am a bit reluctant to do so, since I may decide to start spending on my hilton to get a free night and I have not decided if I will be keeping my premier/prestige cards long term so I don't want to reduce those limits which I may need.

Re: Citi AA business card

In my experience, Citi, unlike Chase, sets the total CL across personal and biz cards at an exact % of income. Already having 2 personal cards, I was approved for a biz card at an uneven limit that set the total across all 3 at exactly 35% of my personal income. When I called in for approval, I was asked if I wanted to move some of my personal limit over to the biz card.

Re: Citi AA business card

Another example of someone limited to exactly 35% of income by Citi (see post 1):

Thanks for this concise answer. I'm not happy to give up personal credit, but its not the end of the world if I have to move like 2k over. I have to double check my math but it looks like I am only using up 30% of my income with credit lines. What may be happening here is they are basing the percentage on the income given when I applied to my first credit card with them and my income has increased since that point. Maybe I forgot to update it but I don't think so.

Dont be sure hat they will let you move limits from your personal card to the business card.  I just went thru this and multiple reps told me that they will not let you move credit from a personal card to your business one.

Hmm. This may have just saved me a rejection. Several months ago I was told I was at the limit with my credit with citi. I get the feeling that unless my income increases the ceiling will not increase with time. I guess if I wanted to go for this I could reduce one of my personal card lines, but I'm not too hot on the idea of doing that. Really glad I checked back and saw your post though.

Yeah, was very frustrating.  I had 3 others Citi cards totally $75K in limits.  Applied for the business AA card and was approved but for measly $1500.  I talked to about 4 different reps and even took a second HP but they wouldnt budge and emphatically stated that they couldnt transfer from my personal to business.  I should have cancelled my personal AA card first but it could have taken several months for that to be updated, so didnt want to wait.  Tomorrow I meet the $3K spend and then I'll cancel it here shortly, and either cancel the personal AA or lower it's limit.  Then I'll get the business one again because it's churnable in very short period of time unlike the personal ones.
