Ink Plus and the Last App Crusade

Figured I would make my own thread here instead of hijacking others so here goes.

May 18th (Wednesday) - applied, got the usual 30 day email, and robo honey agreed with that timeframe.

May 25th (next Wednesday) - missed a call from Chase verification while I was at work. Called the number on my CSP and asked to speak to verification, stating that I think I missed a call from them. Yasmine from verification sent me a code via text message to verify that I applied for the Ink Plus, said everything looks great on the application and I should be receiving the card or a letter if they need anything else within 3-5 days. That night, robo honey still sang the 30 day song.

May 26th (Thursday) - Robo honey changed her tune to the oft-dreaded "7-10 business days". I didn't sweat it, figured maybe more verification needed.

May 31st (Tuesday) - Letter in the mail declining the application based only on "Too many credit cards opened in the last 2 years". Robo honey is still singing 7-10. I sent an SM stating that I understand that the Ink business cards recently had this policy for auto-denial applied to them as of May 22, but I would like to know how to have my application reconsidered since the policy was not in place when I applied. About an hour later I received this response:

Dear wanderingbuilder,

Thank you for contacting Chase about your recent
application.

In order to better assist you, I've forwarded your message
to the appropriate department for review. You should
receive a response within 7 days.

If you need any other assistance, you can send us a secure
message.

Thank you,

So I guess we shall see what comes of this? I am fairly confident that I can squeeze an approval out since my ducks are all in a row now... no baddies at all, no other reason for denial stated aside from 5/24 which really shouldn't apply to a May 18th app, and I ran about $3500 through my CSP and FU in 1 month already, PIF every time CSP util passes 1k and FU passes 500 so they can see I have no problem with decent payments.

Do you guys think I should just hold up for that SM -> appropriate department contact, or call recon tomorrow anyway and try my luck with the business UW drill sergeants?

Re: Ink Plus and the Last App Crusade

I've read about 2-3 posts on people apping on 18th,20th,22nd, they are all denied due to 5/24 and not able to recon.. Someone even called EO today and couldn't get a recon.. If 5/24 is their policy they won't overturn at all I assume but I wish you luck my friend!!

Re: Ink Plus and the Last App Crusade

SM reply just a few minutes ago - basically just repeating what the letter said.

Looks like I need to put on my big boy britches and call recon...

*EDIT*

Oddly, robo lady is still saying "Your application is being reviewed" with the 7-10 day business.

Re: Ink Plus and the Last App Crusade

called business recon today, first guy dropped my call while he was on hold checking to see if he could override the 5/24 auto denial.

Called back, after about 40 mins back and forth on hold the 2nd girl said she could override it and reviewed the app again, asked me a handful of business questions, and ultimately came up with new denial reasons:

Not enough business revenue so far (said I need to prove profit to match whatever CL is desired)

too many recent inquiries

Should I try recon again? or maybe ask EO?

Seems kind of odd that the application was nearly finished, then suddenly 5/24'd, and now different reasons for denial...

Re: Ink Plus and the Last App Crusade

You can call EO and try again, but chances are they are just going to send you to a UW..

And remember when I was AR by chase a few days ago they told me "wow you have a lot of notes on you accounts" they put notes on applications.. So if a UW put a note saying "needs to show profit to match CL" or something along those lines they might be hesitant.

Re: Ink Plus and the Last App Crusade

As for too many Inq that's just a generic response... I had 65+ INQ on EX when they approved me for 3 cards.. 7 of those being recent.

Re: Ink Plus and the Last App Crusade

Yeah I kind of feel like it was just an arbitrary denial.... I have seen many people who are approved for Ink cards with more new accounts than me, more recent inquires, and no business history at all.

I am feeling very tempted to just keep calling back until I get a guy since they always seem to treat me better at Chase for some reason. in April I had a similar-ish thing happen with my Freedom Unlimited - stupidly called lending to expedite app and the first rep was another very stern lady who shot me down left and right. Called back the next day and got some super chill guy who right off the bat was looking for ways to help me out.

I wish you luck but you should also know

Chase keeps records of all calls so at some point you may start to hear different reason for denial just to get you off the phone (just being honest)

They log the call each time as to why you called etc etc

So you could get the wrong UW guy that reviews the log and leaves a nasty note for others Smiley Surprised

As for 5/24 rule EO UW can not or will not overturn the decision and I haven't seen a case yet YMMV and maybe you'll be first

I think its fair to say the days of multiple recons are over with Chase ending in an approval IMHO tho

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?
