So after countless emails and letters I finally got an answer from Ford Motor Credit. My wife purchased a Ford Transit Connect (New in 2013). We paid on it for 14 months prior to paying it off. It never reported to any of the credit bureaus. Yesterday I received a letter from Ford Motor Credit Corp along with a copy of the original contract. The Ford Dealer listed the "Use for which purchased" as commercial instead of personal. Ford stated this resulted in the loan being reported to Dun and Bradstreet, Experian Commercial and Equifax Commercial. My wife has never owned a business and this vehicle was purchased using her personal info not the name, EIN # of a business. The letter stated that it is not possible for Ford to report a closed paid for account to the Credit Bureaus. What recourse if any do we have and can anyone explain how Experian and Equifax commercial differ from the regular Equifax and Experian CRA. This is the first I have heard about this. Can we ask Experian and Equifax to switch the listing over to our regular personal bureaus? Sorry for all of the questions.
You really have no recourse. Only the original creditor can change the reporting status, so asking EQ and EX to do so won't work. Other than the entry not appearing in her personal profile, this is a no impact situation.
