AMEX CLI question

I have a Costco TE that I took from 2k to 6k to 18k. I'm at 181 days now. On Feb 11th, I applied for and got a BCP with a 5k limit.

Having read the 3X CLI guide, it seems that it isn't a bad idea to transfer some of the CL from the Costco to the BCP and then to CLI the Costco.

So, to avoid the 4506T, I need to keep my overall limits at or below $34,500?

So if I were to move $4500 CL from my Costco to my BCP, I would have one card with a $13,500 limit and one with a $9500 limit, and I could ask for a CLI on the $13,500 limit card to $25k safely...I've had the Costco since 2011, so I'm past that 13 cycle minimum. Is there something I'm missing?

Amex "can" FR at any credit line... they do not have a specific number and further more anyone that I have seen that has been asked for financials because of a CLI only were able to just withdraw the request and not do it... it's not the same as the full on FR usually triggered through spending.

I would ask for the full 3x and let the system counter you!

Agreed. There isn't a hard fast rule that once you exceed $34,500 you are hit with a FR.

Request the CLI if you need and/or want the increased line.

Re: AMEX CLI question

So move CL from Costco to BCP to the tune of $9500, leaving $8500 on the Costco, and CLI to $25k and hope?

Re: AMEX CLI question

just request for as much as you can.

there are people whom went above 30-40k CL and Amex never required any sort of tax docs. If they do ask you for it, just cancel the CLI request if you don't want to submit them.

Since you have had those accounts for almost 3 years now, the chances of them asking for tax docs is somewhat slimmer since you have a more established history with them. Then again, it also depends on your income and other factors.

HUH... NO, ask for the 3x CLI on Costco.... $54k. I didn't read anyone say anything about moving and only asking for small amount.

Re: AMEX CLI question

Wow. 54k on Costco, really? To clarify, I have only  had the Costco for 3 years...a few weeks ago, I got my BCP with a 5k limit. I'd be a little less timid if the BCP had started at a higher limit, and with a better interest rate.

Re: AMEX CLI question

It's an instant counter, as long as you don't ask for more than 3x the computer will counter...
