Re: Chase Freedom Auto-CLI

@red, you will get those cards eventually. No need to worry. They are really not that hard to get.

That being said, I would recommend you use your freedom as much as you can. It will help your internal scoring in various ways, including being labelled as being a more "profitable" customer for chase through swipe fees and/or interests.

Which if these makes you appear to be a better customer to CC companies? Someone who has a few large purchases a month and spends 5k or someone who has a ton of small purchases and spends like 3.5k? I'm just wondering with swipe fees if the CCs make more off the large volume swipers than the few big time purchasers. Its not part of my strategy or anything, I will use my card as I deem necessary, but its just more of a point of curosity for me.

Re: Chase Freedom Auto-CLI

It depends on where you shop at. Different merchants have different agreements in place with visa/MasterCard.

My guess is that in general they would prefer the individual who spends more in general, since swipe fees are a percentage of what you spend.

And then there's also talk about certain lenders, especially Amex, giving internal scores to purchases depending on amount, type, and location of charge.

That is what I was wondering about swipe fees. I forgot it was a percentage of what you spend. I used to accept CCs years ago, but just plain forgot since I didn't like having to kick back the fees to the CC companies when my clients paid that way.

Wonder if paying before the statement even cuts is your reason for no love... GE doesn't count the statement towards CLI if you don't report a balance either. (report balance, not carry balance past due date and take on interest.)

2 of my last 4 statement cycles for Sams Discover were zero balances, and last week they luv button me to 10k.  Maybe that has changed?
