@MrMop wrote:I have a hunch Chase would approve you now. Keep in mind I was approved for a card I had no business applying for, considering my credit profile and the fact that the Mileage Plus Explorer requires 'excellent' credit and is a Visa Sig. Chase does issue the Amazon Visa, so if you have a good history with that it could only help. I also think they put a decent amount of weight on spending habits; I have several smaller-limit cards that are maxed out or have been in the past, but my higher-limit cards ($5k Macys and $15k AU on AmEx Hilton) have never utilized more than 50% of CL. Also a few private student loans from WF and Sallie Mae PIF early and no late payments ever. Chase is feeling confident this year and is looking to make inroads into the fair-good credit market, take advantage!
Some of my inquries aren't going to factor into my score after September and I will have over a year of credit history on my Citi card and 6 months of credit history on my CapOne card so I'll look into it and if CapOne decides to be a bit generous and give me a decent increase, I'll probably be closing my Chevron card. Thanks for the tip. I hope that even if I do get declined, I'll have more luck with the recons and maybe trying that a few times.
Congrats on your approval!!! Wow I've been getting the 50k offer in the mail for the past three weeks at least once a week. I wanted to apply for this card and the csp next year.Your success is making me wanna pull the trigger now and pull the trigger on the csp in 6 months. Again congrats on your approval !!!
Thanks for all the congrats! If you can afford the HP I'd apply, and if you get the 'further review' message call a backdoor number after a day or two and inquire about the status. The reason I applied with lowish scores (640-650) is that I have seen tons of non-signature Mileage Plus Visas lately (they really do exist), and know a few Chase managers who have said their lending standards were loosening a bit due to economic improvement. btw they pulled TU (ironically my worst report) and I'm in IL.

I see. I guess I must have gotten not the best people to do recons with when it comes to Chase but since you said that they are starting to loosen up their lending standards a bit, suddenly trying Chase again in a few more months is sounding very likely to me.
One last thing I wanted to know, did you have any prequalified offers for this card or other Chase cards?
No pre-qual offers with Chase, or any other lender for that matter. I applied for the same card a year ago and was denied.
