Well I couldn't help myself. I am supposed to be in the garden (been there a whole 11 days...), but decided to pick apply for a Chase Sappire Preffered card. My scores are not stellar (see below), but figured with my income and the reason for my scores being low (fairly thin profile - just got my 2nd, 3rd, and 4th CC since September - 3 inquires total on my CRs, a couple of SL baddies that are faling off next year), I figured why the heck not. I do a lot of traveling for both work and pleasure (no travel rewards cards prior to this), and will easily get myself a free flight or so a year. I put my app in fully accepting the fact that I would either get denied or pending as an answer, and would have to recon. I got the pending further review status.
I called in about 10 minutes later, and verified some info with the sales reps (plural - I got DC'd just as the first rep was getting back on the line from looking my app over), and got approved for $9,200! I was expecting that at best I would convince them to give me a minimum credit limit, and work with it from there. I must be doing something right.
Now I just need an AmEx BCP, and to PC my Amazon.com Rewards card to the Freedom later this year, and I will be in the garden indefinitely (other than future home/vehicles).
Eta: Spelling.
I hope this will inspire some of you that have similar profiles and are on the edge to apply (like I was inspired for my Discover It 11 days ago...).
Man, you make me want to app for CSP so bad...
Thanks!
Armbender - I saw your other post the other day. You look like a much better candidate than me. Good luck if you go for it!
ObeyJohnny - My EQ is 690 plus or minus a few points. Good luck!
I haven't went the CSP route yet but I'm going to the Chase Branch soon to do the paperwork (they bought my mortgage) and while opening up a checking and direct deposit with them I'm hoping to land the CSP as well. May as well since I'm loosing a HP anyway
Congrats! Great starting CL.
