Citi CLI

I tried to get a CLI with my Citi Platinum Select card but was immediately declined  I checked the document section and it said I was declined because my balance with them was too high and my revolving cards also had high balances. I'm not too concerned with a possible drop in my score. But I do think this decline will make it easier to drop them after my 0% intro is gone next December. The platinum card has crappy rewards anyway. I have my Discover and my Chase Amazon card which I love.

I already tried that. They said absolutely not, no PCing from this card, they don't even offer it anymore. I asked about Forward, Thank You and one of the other ones. They said I had to apply for those cards. I needed an MC card at the time and I ONLY use it in one place.

Did you recently open an account with them? Mine was around May/June '11

Here is my thread when I did the PC from Citi Platinum Select MC to Citi ThankYou Premier World MC($125 AF)

http://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Credit-Cards/Citi-Platinum-Select-to-Citi-Thank-You-PC/m-p/1598072

About four week later, I realized that travel once a year doesn't add up to $125AF, so I PC again to Citi Dividend Platinum Select (probably World MC, didn't get the card yet.). Here is thread where I ask which card to switch with no AF.

What number should I call to try to do a PC? I forget which number I called initially, but they told me no PCing from this card at all. That any card that I might be interested in, I would have to apply for separately. IF I really can't PC from it, then I will just pay it down slowly and cancel at the end of the 0%, because the Citi Extra Cash is bunk. Who wants to pay to use recoup rewards?

Try again until you get a CSR that will help you. I had the same card and I got the same answer with the first two reps I talked to before finally succeeding with the third.

You must gotten a bad CR, I used the account retention number listed on the pinup backdoor thread.

The reward on Platinum Select is exactly why I PC'd in the first place, that I agreed with you. I did look at the ThankYou Preferred, but the forward beats it. The dividend is like the Chase Freedom with rotating cats, so I will use it in conjuction with the freedom, will I get BCE and sapphire next year.

Also, if you call late night, or early morning you will get regular frontline CR.  Call around 9-4pm Central time. It will be no wait or automated system, someone will pick it up.

To answer your previous question, it's not a new app. I got the card in March, after initially being rejected last fall. I was applying for the sole purpose of using it  in one place, and the 0% APR. I'll try one of the numbers listed on the backdoor thread. Hopefully I can get a PC.  My only issue with the Forward is it's Visa, NOT MC. Unless something changes, I would likely need to replace this card with another MC card.
