Citi Simplicity CLI

Hello all, I was wondering if you guys would think Citi would grant me a CLI. My current limit is $6,800 which I was instantly approved for back in August. I have a 733 Equifax Score, 758 Transunion score and have had this card for 6 months now. I was hoping for a CLI up to $5200, bringing my total credit line to $12K. I was planning on calling the Citi number and doing this. I had used this card a ton over the last 6 months and have probably spend $4000 during that time and currently only owe only $200(I pay ($400-$500 each month). My total utilization across 2 cards is at 1.55%. So what do you guys think?

Cheers Jim

Re: Citi Simplicity CLI

They tend to want 6 months or so between CLI's, so you are right on the edge of that. That said, there are so many factors unique to your individual situation that nobody here can reasonably predict what a lender will decide. If you realistically need the extra spend, then apply for it. If they turn it down, call UW and ask for it to be reconned. If they say no, then they say no, but you'll never know until you ask them.

Off the top of my head, assuming you have the income to support the request, I'd say that your chances are good for some sort of increase. They may counter, but again, until you ask them for one you'll never know.

Most CLI's I've seen through their automated system with just a soft pull are in the neighborhood of $1500-$2k as far as I've read. Of course, if you're willing to take a hard pull and recon it with an underwriter (see backdoor phone numbers sticky) and explain why you would like the CLI, then you stand a pretty good chance IMO. Good luck!
