My summer app/CLI results

In the past 6 weeks I went on my annual spree; results were mostly ho-hum, with one big exception. Hope the info informs both regulars and lurkers!

Macy's- requested a $6kCL (up from $4k) and the AmEx version; denied the AmEx, accepted counter-offer $5kCL.  Opened 10/2011 w/$100cl.

Cap1 Journey Visa- CLI of $500; total $2700cl (Cap1 routinely raises CL on this card by a few hundred $ every 6mos; opened 11/2011 w/$1kCL)

Cap1 (former Household Bank) MC- CLI denied; $1250cl and my oldest card (12y/o)

HSBC Cash or Fly- CLI denied; $750cl

Barclay Rewards- CLI denied; $500cl

Citibank Gold AAdvantage- app denied (pulled EQ)

Chase Mileage Plus Explorer- reviewed, then approved (!) for $5k (pulled TU)

Discover it- denied but offered secured (not accepted/pulled EX)

AmEx Green- denied (after 3 flawless years with a Zync w/PSL; Zync is now sock-drawered)

My FICO was 650; now 646 after the apps and a small balance reporting.  53% util, 5-8 inq, AAoA 4.8yrs, 1 closed/settled 3y/o collection, 1 unpaid 5y/o collection (TU only), no lates ever.  I only plan on 1 more app (Chase Amtrak MC) this coming Dec after a chunk of inqs fall off, then gardening til next summer, when I'm shooting for the Fidelity Rewards AmEx, Sallie Mae uPromise MC, and the Chase Marriott Visa to replace my 3 Cap1 relics.

I have heard you should close the ZYNC, and when score is up a bit more again try for the Green. (At least 30 days).
