Well today was day 61 for DG's AMEX BCE card.
24k annual income, no lates ever but some old baddies (all 2009). 2 unpaid medical collections along with 1 paid med collection and the paid judgement that went along with it.
Logged in, instantly and painlessly bumped credit limit from 1k up to 3k. Decided to app for another card to take advantage of the backdating since it's January, so she apped for the Blue because we didn't want any more annual fees. Instantly approved for 5k!
Her only other cards are 1k walmart, 1k chase freedom and our $250 joint credit union secured card from years ago. AU on my $1800 Discover IT.
So to be bumped from 1k to 8k with AMEX all at once was huge -- and great timing since we're in the process of moving and are going to need new appliances.
congrats!!!
Awesome congrats on your CLI and new card!
What do you mean January backdating? How does that work exactly?
Since her first AMEX card was opened in November of 2013, her member since date will be 2013.
Since this is January, it will show her new card as being since January of 2013 -- making it look a year old and better for average account age than the card she opened 2 months ago.
That's pretty awesome. Is that automatic or do you have to call in and request a backdating?
I opened my BCE in October of 13, so if I got another AMEX it would backdate to January 13?
It's my understanding that it's automatic, though this will be the first time we've had 2 AMEX cards so I won't know for certain until 7-10 days from now when the card arrives
And yep, the date should show whatever the current month is and the year of your first AMEX card.
Cool! Thanks for the info and congrats again!

9 out of 10 its automatic. If it doesn't, a quick call will fix it.
Congrats to all your success
Congrats! Thanks for sharing.
