Good morning,
I applied for the BOA Alaska Airlines card and received the "Pending" message, I checked the application status this morning and saw that it was "Approved". When I called to find out the CL I was told that I was approved for $3,000, unfortunately this means I won't receive the 30,000 miles bonus or the annual companion ticket.
Has anyone had any experience with successfully having the CL increased to $5,000+ in order for the card to become a Visa Signature card? Or any experience with successfully moving some $ from one BOA CL to another? I could have them move $1,300 from my WWF BOA card and have them approve for another $700 to bump the Alaska card to $5,000 and keep the WWF card at $5,000.
Any advice or insight would be appreciated.
Thank you.
UPDATE: The account appeared this morning so I gave BOA a call to transfer $ from my WWF card to the Alaska Airlines card and they accepted my request without any hesitation. The good news is the Alaska Airlines is now at $5k, but the WWF card is at $4,300 (I hope it's not downgraded and changed back to the red design), now I'm hoping they'll honor the 30,000 bonus along with the other perks of the card
2nd UPDATE: The day after I transferred CL's I called BOA to change the platinum card to the Visa Signature card - fortunately for me I was transferred to a very nice lady who said she would assist me with the updgrade, but unfortunately she said that it was a request she had to submit and it wasn't an instant decision type of deal. She submitted the request after reading me a disclaimer and also submitted a request to see if they'll honor the 30,000 bonus miles offer. I mentioned to her that I only applied because of the great benefits that the card has (free checked bag, companion ticket) and she said that those benefits come with the card regardless of the tier, but when I received the card packet last night none of those benenfits are mentioned, only a $50 annual discount - has anyone had any similar experiences?

What makes you think that you won't get the 30K miles? A Visa does not automatically have to have a $5K minimum limit to be a Signature card. It's up to the issuing bank to decide.. Did the rep that you spoke to tell you that you will not receive the bonus?

Thanks for the response, yes the rep that told me I was approved told me the card I was approved for was a "Platinum Plus" card and it has a 5K mile sign up bonus and not 30K.

Well that sure puts a damper on the approval. I'd get on the phone with them as soon as possible and see if transferring limits will allow you to upgrade. I have both the personal and business version of the card and I wouldn't have wanted them for only 5K miles. Hopefully they will work something out for you because without knowing ahead of time what bonus that you'll get if approved is a shi**y practice imho. Good luck and let us know the outcome.
Call it coincidence, I applied for BoA Alaska card on 03/09 and it went to pending. Called BoA on 03/10 and they confirmed me that i am approved for Platinum plus with $3000 limit.
I tried to recon to upgrade the card to Visa Signature card but it was not successful. Spoke to some managerial level guys and they tried to increase the limit but got error message saying account holder must complete 90 days. Hence it is not useful to proceed further as you will not get all advertised benefits with platinum plus version.
Went ahead and cancelled the card. Will app for the card after few months.

Thank you, I will be calling them as soon as I can today. I'm hoping they'll be willing to move my limits around and grant me an extra $700 increase on one of my CL's so both cards can be at $5k.

You can move your limits from another BOA card.
Not sure if that will get you the Sig Card though or cause them to increase the bonus.
It's weird though I don't even see a non Visa Signature version of the card on their website.
Exactly, no where on the application or the screen showing the bonuses does it mention that there's a different version of the card with lesser bonuses.

Did you have a 'relationship' with BOA? I'll call again today and hopefully get some good news.
