For clarification, were you specifically approved for a World MasterCard with $800 or just approved and recon prior to the card being issued? A lot of people think Arrival means WMC but there is a Platinum MC so an approval doesn't necessarily mean World.Oh no! Mine does say Platinum, not World! I'll call tomorrow to see what I can do ...
Thanks for pointing that out. I didn't realize there was even a Platinum option.
IIRC, if you are approved below the WMC threshhold as a Platinum version, you will not be able to PC to WMC. You'd have to have initially been approved with the appropriate CL assignment ($5K or above) to get the WMC straight out. Barclays is finicky and not as flexible as other lenders so I'm thinking chances might be slim...on the upside, they granted you $5K. Best of luck on your follow-up with them.
Correct

That's disappointing! Question ... do senior analysts work weekends, or would my luck be better calling on a Monday?

@Anonymous!
I know what you're talking about...
One out of three reps nicely transferred me to retention. I got disconnected, then they wouldnt ever transfer me back... The CSR basically said they didnt want to talk to me.
I've had a Barclaycard a year and a half. I've run $10k thru it via 0% and 3.99% offers, and they refuse to lower mypurchase APR of 24.99%. I'm just about done with Barclay's!
Sorry to hear that young Barclay is ok with me so far

I asked to speak to a closing specialist first, and cs was like, so you want to close your card? Because I can do that for you. I said I didn't want to close it straight up, but I wanted to explore my options. Cs then said so you want to talk to a 'retention specialist' then? I said yes, he transferred me and easy breezy PC to the Rewards card.
Congarts and thanks for adding to the thread
This thread is amazing and I'm so glad someone referred me to it!
I was reluctant to apply for new credit, but applied for the Barclay's today and was approved for $1500! I'm calling tomorrow morning to try and get a higher CL, so fingers crossed.
I got a little cocky and applied for a Discover IT and was denied, then applied for a Priceline Visa since it's also Barclay's, and got the "we'll get back to you" response. We'll see what happens. If anything, this thread taught me it's not a no until the fat recon analyst lady sings!
I'm going to try a BT and carry a balance on that card and see if I can get the auto CLI in 6 months too. To be continued...
