I decided since I don't really use my Sapphire card any more, it would make more sense to convert it to an Amazon card, knowing that Chase doesn't do product changes with out a new application, I went ahead and applied online, I never usually get an instant approval from Chase, so I wasn't shocked by the 30 day message what so ever. So I got on the phone, called underwriting, got a analyst on the line, explained what I was trying to accomplish, she put me on hold, after about 3 minutes, she came back, and said the system is still processing your application, and an analyst will need to look at it before a decision can be made. I asked her, aren't you an analyst? She got quiet, and then said, yes I am, I said, ok? So would you be able to convert my Sapphire card to an Amazon Visa today? She got quiet, then said, sir, your application needs to go into our back end system, I asked to her to explain what their back end system does? She just kept giving me a scripted answer. She said you will get a letter with your decision in 7-10 business days, I asked her, so your not going to decision this today? She said, it has to go through our back end system, and then an analyst has to look at it. After coming to the conclusion this woman wasn't going to pursue this any further, I thanked her, and hung up! I am going to wait a few hours and call underwriting again, usually, in my case, dealing with Chase has been pretty simple and quick, this conversation wasn't so much, Ill let you all know what I find out.
Call and talk to someone else since you are already a chase customer. Some of these analyst just dont want to do their jobs..
Sounds like something crawled up her back end.
Call back until you get a much more knowledgeable analysts. If they sound really mean and rude, just hang up on them and try again.
Call back until you get someone else.. Usually it is the next call, but I have got the same UW before! Anyways, sounds like a verification issue w/30 days thing
Oh Snap! Just called another analyst, turns out, I need to speak to verifications department, she tried to transfer me over to that department, and after a 10 minute hold, she came back on the line, said that department is exteremly busy, asked me if I wanted to keep holding, or call verifications later? I said, Ill just call back later, she was really nice, and gave me a phone number to call. Night and day experience in a matter of 30 minutes! Crazy
Got a hold of verifications, answered some questions about another Chase account, and BOOM! Was approved for a $13,000.00 credit line with an APR 14.24%, I was going to transfer some credit over if I had to, I guess what I will do is sock drawer the Sapphire card for awhile then. Pulled TU and EX.
