Capital One Visa vs. Mastercard- How To App For One or the Other

This may be a dumb question, but how do you app for one or the other? I have two MC right now and am going to combine into one. I didn't even realize there were Visa versions of QS and Venture. Are there different scores/criteria for Visa vs. MC?

I was wondering the same thing. I applied for my Venture last July and was issued a Visa. I read some post here on the forums that stated the Venture use to be issued as Mastercards but are now Visa, I'm not sure how accurate this info is. I would like clarification on this subject too.

Hey, kberly! For new apps, it goes like this:

Mastercard

Platinum

Quicksilver One

Quicksilver (WEMC)

Premier Dining Rewards (WEMC)

Visa

Journey (for students)

Venture One (Visa Signature)

Venture (Visa Signature)

Yes, both the QS and Venture used to be offered in both networks, depending on whether you apped from Credit Karma or Capital One's site. Now they are offered as shown in my post above.

You are welcome! Cap1 is like a chameleon with their network offerings. I've kinda stayed on top of it because my original plan was to app for the QS Visa but, as you can see in my sig, it ended up being the QS WEMC because they switched the network before I was ready to pull the trigger. Oh well, I am liking my lineup well at this point. I hope you get the Cap1 card you want! BTW, the Venture Visa Sig is currently a metal card. Kinda cool!

In my case, it is the opposite.

I have a sig visa QS and a World MC Venture.

It's interesting that Capital One takes a different strategy than others, such as Chase/Citi/BofA/USAA who all have major long-term deals with specific networks. Cap One appears to be more flexible and changes it often. Perhaps that has been a better strategy for them rather than committing entirely to one network.

What does their 360 Debit cards use?
