My wife and I are going on a cruise over spring break this year and I wanted to pay it with my Chase card instead of my debit card for numerous reasons. However, it was more than my credit limit and Chase customer care would not authorize a one time charge above my limit. Because of this, I finally decided to bite the bullet and request an increase and just take the hard pull.
Customer care told me it would be reviewed and they would mail me their decision 7-10 days later. I knew what that meant, so I called the backdoor number to recon. After asking me some questions about my other high balances (very high Best Buy on an 18 month no-interest deal) and relatively high Capital One cards since they have extremely low limits, he approved me for an increase from $1500 to $3500! Despite my other cards having a high balance, he commented that I used my Chase card a lot (I usually pay it off in full at least twice a month) and had a good history with them so far.
Between my first auto increase and this, I have now gone from $1000 when I got this card last March to $3500. It is so nice to have a card that actually grows with you. I am also thrilled with how great Chase was upon recon. Instead of just spitting out what the computer said, he took the time to ask me about the specific flags their computer didn't like so I could explain those situations. So thrilled with Chase right now and definitely glad I didn't waste that inquiry. It is a bummer though because had previously been inquiry free since last March, but it was definitely worth it!
congrats
Congratulations!!
Congrats on the CLI.
Yay! Congrats!
Congrats
Congrats! I see from your siggy you are lucky enough to be with PSECU. That will grow with you big time, too! (Unfortunately, I missed their out of state cut off by a few hours!)
Lucky duck! I had to practically twist their arm just to give me a $500 CLI.
Then I asked for more and they said they wanted to see if I used the now $1000 CL before they upped it anymore...well the whole damn reason I wanted a bigger CL is so I can use the card more. I can't get much more use out of it with a measly $500 more. I ran so much money through that card with a little tiny limit and paid it off and they still screwed me. /rant
I'm happy for you though. At least someone got some love
