Comenity Total Rewards Visa CLI Question

I have a TR card that is past the 4 month window for a CLI, and the card's anniversary date is next week. I received the one and only requested CLI of 3K in April and have not requested any additional. In July I got an Amex and Cap One Card. The Cap One has reported to all bureaus, and Amex 2nd statement just closed a couple of days ago so I am not sure if it has posted to the bureaus yet. I have three inquiries on Equifax, one is the Comenity, which is almost a year; one for Cap One (triple pull), and one Mortgage refi (triple pull), no other new accounts other than the two mentioned. I don't know which bureau that they soft, but other inquiries are Exp -2 and TU - 2.

I understand there are not any guarantees, (especially with Comenity), but for you Comenity MC/Visa card holders, do you think that this credit seeking activity is pretty safe territory to pull the CLI trigger or should I give activity some additional space with ? I do have pretty consistent usage on the card I use at the local Casino's as well as Vegas so that card does has some value to me. Thank you for your feedback!

Re: Comenity Total Rewards Visa CLI Question

Here is my take, and add a grain a salt with it ok?

I have had multiple many Comenity cards (and still do have some now) and i have worked those accounts like a drop forge hammer. With the way they don't report without usage they keep me hopping i'll tell you. But at the end of the day they set the timetables.

Now with that being said you mentioned last CLI in April and by all purposes your timeline is already somewhat past what we consider the 4 month plus days schedule that they do seem to stick with.

However, in my experience they also can delay for some weeks past 4 months. I had that occur with my JCrew card and it stretched on for a couple extra months. Why? Who knows, i sure don't. But eventually let it go and returned to try again another following month where it finally did come through.

Some people, especially newcomers call in to try to speak with a rep for that but some of us view that as a big no no because it can raise flags as well as have unintended circumstances, that is if they can even get through to begin with.

Since you say you DO show them consistent usage we assume you also do a PIF with them too? Or roll a balance for x number months and then PIF. This is how i work my Comenity card. I let them make profit through the assigned APR for whatever months sometimes, and other cards i knock out with PIF before statement cut.

I think from what you've mentioned that you only need to give it a week? maybe days afterwards if no joy and here is why.

My banckcard comenity cards SP CLI schedule rolled around recently and i pushed the luv button for some days, maybe 3 in a roll (no foul no harm, just letters in the mail LoL) but they have it set at some unknown date where their computer kicks in the ELIGIBLE NOW algorithm, and then there you are. SP CLI.

See how things go and also count the number of days after which you expected it (for your future reference) until you actually do see that SP CLI on your TR card.

I think it's coming, just hold on awhile longer, but it will (should) come soon for you. Good Luck.

Now with that being said you mentioned last CLI in April and by all purposes your timeline is already somewhat past what we consider the 4 month plus days schedule that they do seem to stick with   The date for last CLI was April 4th, and 4 months would have been mid-end of August. Since the card anniversary date is Sept 19th, I just decided to wait on the request since it was so close to the anniversary date.. This actually makes it 169 days.

Some people, especially newcomers call in to try to speak with a rep for that but some of us view that as a big no no because it can raise flags as well as have unintended circumstances, that is if they can even get through to begin with. I guess my plan was to do online vs telephone.

Since you say you DO show them consistent usage we assume you also do a PIF with them too? Yes, I pay in full, but leave a few dollars to post onto the statement and rinse and repeat. Have never had any interest post to account. Average spend varies. There have been some Total Reward promotions for things like groceries or gas.that I would give extra spend. They have had activity every month since account opening.

I think from what you've mentioned that you only need to give it a week? So next week sounds good. But does my question regarding the recent activity of credit seeking give you any pause? Have you requested with new accounts opening?

drop forge hammer - (okay, I actually had to look this up, didn't know what it was...lol)

Maybe, maybe not. But as best i can remember i always had newly approved cards less than 3 months and Comenity still approved for cards BUT i can't honestly say with any certainty if the same holds true on credit limit increase requests. Wish i could offer more insight on that.

I worked in a very large industrial complex some years ago. Walking a quarter mile to my assigned building where i was a pipe machine operator there was a neighboring building all us workers walked past to make it to work, and at ground level you could see high machines very tall smashing down on Red H0T forgings workers used long tongs to set inside them, fresh from a steel forming furnace.

It's sort of a good analogy for me the way i work some cards. Hit them hard with usage and then allow them to cool.

Forms a pretty dependable relationship and they see you are keeping busy with them right?

Looks like you are doing spectacular in that regard so i would try and try again when you think the time is right because they'll never tell us.

Thanks for your feedback CM7. I think I have been pretty conservative, but it's not about what I think right.Smiley Wink

Glad to help.

Comenity steers off course sometimes then what or when we expect so you just have to sit tight and come right back again after a time.

That's all. No big deal really, except when you're as impatient as i get sometimes trying to rotate usage with them and have them report so i can PIF or when they keep me waiting for that SP CLI when the normal expected dates don't line up when i know i counted it right on the calendar.
