Credit spree success

Spent a few years rebuilding my credit, I could have done it faster but I just focused on mostly paying my bills on time didn't worry too much about utlization as my credit limits were only $500 and $250 on my only 2 credit cards. Been 4.5 years since I had a late payment. Was in the mid to low 500's previously. I was at the minimum credit score to get a mortgage 2.5 years ago. NFCU pretty much changed everything around for me after that. With my scores in the low 600's they had no problems giving me an auto loan. I then sat on my credit for a while. I didn't apply for any credit cards for 2 years, no more loans. I was looking at my credit score and it wasn't going anywhere. Mid 600's, 660 maybe at the highest. Even after years of no late payments. I never used the $250 card but I used the 500 dollar CC often and balance reported high even though I would pay most of it off every month. Some of the negatives on my report included low credit limits, and I think high utilization. My wife was going through grad school so I didn't have too much extra money to keep the balance at 0. Out of the blue on december 2nd 2012 I decided to apply for an NFCU credit card. After all they were very generous with me in the past even with my mediocre scores which hasn't gotten much better since I last applied for a loan with them. I was hoping for a 1k-2k limit but wow was I wrong they instantly approve me for 14k limit on their credit card, and my score jumps up 40-50 points I couldn't believe it, finally in the 700's. I had a 5% interest rate on my mortgage and saw the rates were very good now and inquired about a refinance and how much the closing costs would be and before I knew it my refinance was on its way. I got a 3.375% interest rate through USAA with them paying me $2500 to take it resulting in no out of pocket costs for my refinance, only a couple thousand in escow which I rolled into the new loan. I'm still waiting on $4k check from the escrow on my old mortgage. Once I closed on the refinance I bought a new car for my wife and traded her old car in. NFCU gave me their top tier intereste rate for that. Since the refi I saw an offer from USAA for another credit card which I wasn't too interested in initially because I was pretty happy with my NFCU card. I figured what the hell, I'm gonna garden for a while anyway, I had just got a CC, mortgage, auto loan...I'm not gonna use my credit for a while, I couple extra ding's won't be an issue as I won't seek new credit for quite some time now. I accepted the offer from USAA, I don't think they did a hard pull but ill check in a couple weeks. I think this was a preapproved offer that used my mortgage hard pull. They gave me a 10k limit instantly. I then applied for a penfed CC since they have the best gas rewards and although not approved instantly they say it is pending with a limit of 13,500. Odd that it gave me a limit without an approval but I think that is pretty standard with them on their pending applications. Hopefully I'll find out tomorrow about that one. But I'm done with credit now and super happy with my new success. Thanks for all the help. This is a great forum and I've learned a lot.
