Hi guys, so I applied for the discover card on 31st of December and got the instant declined. I spoke with a nice lady over the phone this morning to request a recon but she wanted to pull another HP to evaluate my request. She did confirmed she was able to see my CR from 2 days. Has this happen before.
Good Morning,
I had this exact thing happen to me in January 2014. i let them pull it again ..unfortunatley i was still turned down. but she told me to wait 6 months and give it another shot. i waited another year, used my credit wisely over that time didn't app for any cards and then tried again in November 2014 and was approved.
Good Luck.

I took the same approach.
I applied late 2013 for Discover and instantly denied. I gardened for 2014 and applied again last week... and was approved for $1500 with a 0% promotion... as well as Amex, Sallie Mae and Nordstrom.
My Discover limit is low but I don't care... I'm in the door.
OP, hit the garden and try again. It works.
Thanks guys.
I felt the same way about discover...they gave me $1500 and the guy on the phone seemed shocked that i didn't ask for a higher limit. i just told him i was happy to get a foot in the door. i was told i could call back in 3 months and ask for a CLI.
OP, what cards do you currently have? if you want discover i would most certainly garden. if you don't care there are plenty of cards that are much easier to get if you don't already have them.

I've the following cards but I know Discover is BK friendly because I applied for mom with same scenario and she got approved with $1500 CL the only issue I burned them back in 07 and included in my Chapter 7. I'm not in a hurry to re play again
I've
Barclay US Air MC
Barclay Apple rewards
NASA FCU
Navy FCU
Navy LOC
Capital One Venture
Penfed Amex
Penfed Promise
US Senate CU
Citibank *AU*
I've heard Discover has a long memory... as well as Amex.
I had a BK13, but neither of them were a creditor. No doubt the reason for my approvals.
I've heard reports of people who burned them getting in, it just takes a long time.
I didn't burn any CC in my chapter 7. probably part of the reason for the approval. good luck on your journey. looks like your off to another good start.
Here's to a Discover approval for you in the future!
TRC_WA i see you have the delta card from Amex... my scores and story are similar to yours and i was wondering if you think you could have gotten the blue rewards card? or why you went with the delta card. did you get the delta card by the skin of your teeth or was it smooth sailing? i want the amex blue card and im going to chill in the garden for 6months to a year before apping. is the delta card easier to get or harder? is it a way to get my foot in the door with amex? i don't know much about the delta card.
