I am sorry CA, I have applied at least a dozen times in the past 3 years, refused because of a paid tax lien that has been on report since 2007. I have called EO and emailed and basically they tell me to ______ myself. I even mentioned that I know that they approve people with paid collections, BK's and paid judgements because I have seen it done in this forum.
Anyhow they're not worth it at this point!
Best wishes always CA
Thats terrible, but Discover is horrible for so many reasons. I know it has nothing to do with your situation but I'll never forget the time they sided with the people who committed fraud on my account. I had to investigate myself in order for their "fraud department" to refund me. My least favorite lender by far
That's why I posted the thread Discover sucks last week. You must have had the same crabby credit analyst woman I had. (ha ha) they are just a frugal conservative organization and I know their reps and analysts don't have the authority to use discretion and override the system.
They are not really a second chance lender and if you do get a miniscule card from them after a blunder or a thin file, it will take a loooooooong time to get even the most modest cli's.
It's hard to get frugal people to be more generous. They tend to think what they give you must be earned and are not very forgiving.
Thank God every lender isn't as nitpicky as Discover.
I like discover for one reason:they closed my account without letting it appear on my credit report. "^_^
Sorry CA, you'd figure that 9 years is more than enough.
Yeah - So I recently applied for a Discover card online hoping to get it as my third card. Scores in the 650-670 range depending on who pulls them. I was approved for 1.5k right off the bat. It was the first card I appied for after joining here and I got in.
Now to really make people mad - I have a BK years past, not sure how long ago but it was like 13 years ago at least. I also have a tax lein that I paid on my report. (that still makes me mad to no end, I was NEVER told about it and just happend to one day request my report somewhere and found it had been filed four days before. I paid it in full the next day! My fault I guess, we'd made out the check and I found it still stapled to the tax forms. Sigh. Now my wife and my money are handled seperately, hence my massively recovering score!) I have one in collection for like $300 I refuse to pay as I don't owe it. 7 lates on record, all more than two years past.
I only had one CC for several years that had recently upped my limit, and I got a Barclays card in Janurary after recon. One report showed only one HP, the other had 7 from trying to buy a car 1.5 years ago where one dealer ran everyone and thier brother. I have two car payments and my util numbers are always in the 5-7% range.
I know now that I apparently got lucky, but somehowI did. I also got in with no recon at all, that was all the basic automatic card application. I read these threads and have no idea how I got approved and some others did not.
total love hate relationship with them. Amazing support, but they won't manually review a hard pull cli request so its not even worth it. Just annoys me.
