God Bless Chase!

My wife, who almost never applies for anything, decided she wanted the CSP and applied.  Approval wasn't instant as they wanted her to submit authorization for Chase to verify her SSN with the SSA directly.  The day after she faxed in the form, they approved her for $10k.

I felt a little "unbalanced" since almost all her credit is piggybacked off of mine and my Chase Amazon has been at $5k for ages, though that's probably my fault because I have never asked them for a CLI.  But still.

So I decided to apply.  I figured best case scenario they would approve for $5k and I'd recon it to $10k.  I almost $&#% when they came back with an instant for $30k.  I'm still in shock five days later.

Also kind of strange is that for my wife they pulled EX, but for me they pulled EQ.

Re: God Bless Chase!

Yes, I do owe her a nice dinner ... or two.  At least.

I'm just so shocked that Chase -- of all banks -- would be so nice.  Are they on meds or something?

I do have some very high CLs on other accounts and a longish history, but I think the kicker was I only had 1 INQ.  From my experience -- and ONLY my experience -- I'd say that Chase likes:

1.  Minimal INQs.  I only had 1and it was 8 months old.

2.  History of 7+ years with Chase.

3.  EQ: 771.

4.  Not very new account sensitive.

5.  Have a banking relationship with Chase.

6.  Above average income.

7.  No derogatory on CR.

But even then.  What Average Joe really needs $30k CL?  I mean, it's nice and it feels good, but it just seems over the top.

I may be wrong, but in my experience keeping clean, time and patience is the key.

After a few years you'll be getting over $40k in just credit limit increases at a time in addition to new credit.
