My problem is getting a pre approval for a card I've had for 3 years. Then being told a blanket "no" to PC and encouraged to apply for what I want. I'm sick of un-knowledgeable CSRs shooting from the hip and thinking I'll believe it.
I'm fully aware of the world around me and what this problem is in the whole scheme of things. That's why I come here if it's credit related.
looks like they have you still as a Discover More customer and keep sending you pre-approvals for the Discover IT...strange ..my pre-approval letters stopped the day I got the card PCd to the IT

Good afternoon,
I would like to take a moment to share my experience with Discover when I applied (today 3/27/15) for your new Discover it Miles card. After the computer was unable to make a decision, I was prompted to call in and as usual, spoke to a friendly representative. My application was denied and from my understanding your company does not manually reconsider applications.
I realize the decision to extend credit - or in my case extend more credit - is highly complex and countless factors have to be taken into consideration. But my frustration comes from receiving a "pre-approved" offer to apply for your Discover it cash rewards card only a few weeks ago, when I already have one! When I called about product changing that card to your new card, I was simply told no.
Discover seems to solicit itself as a company that is highly in touch with it's Customer base, but this experience has frankly left me feeling like just another number. I have always had wonderful interactions with your front-line staff who Typically handle situations consistently. I appreciate that. Hopefully Discover can take steps in the future to more accurately identify "pre-approved" candidates - especially if they happen to be existing Customers.
Thank you for your time,
B335is
Very well said. Wonder what the answer will be to your letter ?
Discover be like how about a 5 dollar starbucks card?

We are still talking about a credit card right?
No offense but turn on the news...your problems are not that bad. Just walk away, try again in the future or don't.This is a credit forum. If you want to talk about the news, go start your own thread at cnn.
Whaaaaaa?!
Yuck.
Also... #firstworldproblems
I truly don't get Discover. I've had a discover it since 12/14, I applied for miles card this month and was declined, called in and was advised not to worry that it is in the works to combine. Then a couple of weeks later when I was allowed I applied for cli, declined after yet another hard pull. Cl is 1500 and I put about 3k a month on it, PIF. A week later I pay the bill, next day they doubled my limit. Go figure.

Someone wrote in this forum that credit is like a game of pinball... sure seems to be true. Sometimes on the consumer side of things logic and common sense seem to be in short supply.

LG, I never had Discover More. I've always had Discover it.
For those of us slow on the uptake, if you have a Discover it, what is your objective with this latest app?
Ok, so what is the rest of the story to explain why Discover would not approve the Miles card?
There's always more to the story.
